PICTURES FROM THE FJELDS

The legend tells that a picture says more than a 1.000 words. Here you'll find photographs from many many places all over Europe and especially from the Scandinavian mountains that we call fjelds.

EL CHORRO

El Chorro is a sport and trad climbing mecca in Spain. In 2004 it was partly closed when it became forbidden to use the railway tunnels to approach the climbing crags.
THE ALPS IN FRANCE

Photos from the mountains above and around Chamonix.
THE ALPS IN ITALY

Photos from a mountaineering trip to Cervinia in the italian alps.
LOFOTEN IN SUMMER

Photos from the Lofoten islands, located in the northern Norway. I've been there three times in the summer; 1980, 2000 and 2001.
LOFOTEN IN WINTER

Above the arctic circle you can experience the beauty and mysteriousness of the phenomenon called aurora borealis, also known as the northern light.
JOTUNHEIMEN(under re-construction)

Jotunheimen, the place where the giants live according to the old norwegian folklore.
SULITJELMA(under re-construction)

A very beautiful norwegian mountain area that is located near the swedish border. The glacier surrounding the mountain Suliskongen is worth a visit.
TROMS(under re-construction)

A northern mountain area in Norway. I've only passed here once, that was in 1995 while making a 1,000 kilometers hike through Scandinavia.
KEBNEKAISE(under re-construction)

Kebnekaise is the highest and most famous mountain in Sweden. This photo gallery include a wide area surrounding Kebnekaise.
SAREK(under re-construction)

By many outdoor enthusiasts, this national park is ofted described is the last true wilderness in western Europe. No huts, no marked trails, no population. This is a great place for adventure.
PADJELANTA(under re-construction)

The neighbour between Sarek and Sulitjelma. This is a rather flat and large mountain area with a large lake called Virrihaure.
STORA SJÖFALLET(under re-construction)

North of Sarek and Padjelanta, you'll find this area that often is passed through when heading for either of the two great national parks mentioned above.
ARJEPLOG(under re-construction)

A large and seldom visited mountain area. It is more famous among the anglers than the mountain hikers. If you want to feel real solitudeness, this is a place where you can find it!
VINDELFJÄLLEN(under re-construction)

The Vindel mountains is the western neighbour of Arjeplog. This is also the place where you'll find the start, or if you like it - the end of the Kings trail.
HELAGS(under re-construction)

A small and easy accessed mountain in the southern mountain area of Sweden.
KUNGSLEDEN(under re-construction)

The largest and most famous hiking trail in Scandinavia, it runs from Hemavan in the south to Abisko in the north. A very nice and easy hiking trail that sadly often is overcrowded during the high summer season.
MIXED PHOTOS(under re-construction)

Mostly photograps from my home area around Tyresö and Stockholm, many pictures are taken while scrambling around on the local crags.

"The mountains have rules. they are harsh rules, but they are there, and if you keep to them you are safe. A mountain is not like men. A mountain is sincere. The weapons to conquer it exist inside you, inside your soul."
